How We Got Here

The story of Virgin is the story of America. The first settlers arrive, laying foundations, and then a new wave of immigrants comes behind. Many descendants of the first pioneer settlers still live in Virgin today.
Over the past 30 years or so, more and more people have arrived, with a huge influx over the last 4 years.
Who are we now?
- Current census data shows Virgin with a population of 688 and that over 50% of that population moved here from out-of-state.
- Along with the arrival of all these new people there has been a breakdown in the sense of community in Virgin. Where once there was a community sharing a common history, there is now a diverse population with many different stories to tell and different journeys to the same destination.
- Although we all do not now share the same past, we all share the same future. We have all planted our stakes and share the wish to build our lives here in Virgin.
Understanding the origins of our division and our shared future will help us find the way forward.
